Get Spotted at the Library was FUN!

We had a great evening at the Evansville Central Library yesterday evening. It was a special treat watching Nathan with his classmates singing songs, playing the drumsticks and listening to stories read by the librarian. We also went on a scavenger hunt and got to see the different areas of the children's library. I was impressed. I'd like to take the kids back this summer.
Nathan also received his report card. He's doing outstanding and we are very proud of him.

Events of the Past Week in the Baird Household!

It's been nearly a week since I last blogged. We've been busy though. Last
week Nathan had buddy, Kyle over. They played and played. Nathan's
most recent interest has been dressing up like a cowboy. He drug out
David's bullriding equipment and he and Kyle rode bulls, roped calves
(ie. chairs) and wrangled steers. It was hilarious.

Nathan told me his toes were bothering him. Sure enough his toenails
needed clipping, so I got the clippers. He insisted on clipping them himself and
he actually did a great job!

Shelby had a lot going on at school too. During Memorial's Homecoming
week they dressed up in a different costume of sorts each day. One of
the days was Western Wear. She makes a great cowgirl! Yee Haw Shelby!

Papa's Birthday was on Friday and so we had him and Granny over for supper.
He is a spry 73 years old and looking great for his age I might add. We enjoyed
our evening together, sang happy birthday and ate cake too! Yum, it was good!

Nathan and Kyle's Playdate

Mrs. Woods' Class went to "James and the Giant Peach" today at the
Victory Theatre. It was wonderful! After school was over Nathan
was fortunate enough to have buddy, Kyle over. We stopped at
McDonalds for lunch and after they ate, which took 2 minutes, they
laughed and played and laughed and played in the playland. They got
soooo hot they had to take their "Gabriel's Garden" shirts off. We then went
home where they played nonstop in their imaginary world of boyhood. They
had a very fun time and should both sleep well tonight.

The Baird's Valentines Day Weekend Highlights

David reading his new book, "The Associate" by Grisham, that I got him for Valentine's Day.
Recently David has been addicted to his Kindle that I got him for Christmas; however, he
couldn't download "The Associate" through Amazon.com so I went out and purchased a hard
copy. He's already over halfway through the book! He's had a relaxful weekend. I have the
picture to prove it!

Nathan got a new heart bear for Valentines Day. He already has a mama, 'heart bear'
and when I saw this 'baby heart bear' I knew he'd be delighted! He also got a book, "The
Kiss that Missed" and some Pirates.

Shelby catching up on homework for Monday. She's working on her nutrition diary that
she kept track of for 3 days. She's such a beautiful girl!~

David was thoughtful and bought me a dozen roses, a bottle of merlot and topped
the evening off with supper at Bonefish (that place is HEAVEN)! Needless to say
I felt loved! Shelby spent the night at Olivia's as they celebrated Olivia's 16th birthday.
We gave Shelby $$$$ since she is a teenager now and her and Olivia went shopping
at the mall. Nathan spent the day with David and me and even went to dinner with
the two of us. He had a good night, ate popcorn shrimp and was in bed by 8:00 pm
SURPRISE, SURPRISE!!!

Nathan's Valentine bag he made at school.

Two of my favorite gifts for Valentines Day were from my children, Shelby and Nathan.
They both made me handwritten notes full of LOVE! Shelby's didn't make it on my camera
unfortunately, but it was so heartfelt. Nathan's almost made me cry. It said, "Roses are Red
and Violets are Blue, Here is a big HUG, just for YOU!" On either side of the paper that it
was written on were his handprints that he had cut out. He had also signed his name to it.
The part that made me cry is that he told David and me as we read it that he needed to wrap
the card around the two of us and give us a great big, hug (which he did)! I'm a sucker for
my children making us gifts from the heart.

I asked Granny to attend Nathan's V-Day Party at school and take some
pictures because I had to take Shelby in for some medical tests (minor routine stuff).
Granny enjoyed herself, Nathan enjoyed having Granny, and she took some good
pictures! Thanks Granny~

An Evening with the Bairds: Storytime/Bedtime

Nathan spoofing like he is asleep. HA! He's not. He actually took a nap
around 1:30 and slept for about 3 hours. Even after waking him up it took
him 30 minutes or so to come around. Needless to say, after going to bed
around 9:00 pm he didn't end up going to sleep until 11:00 pm. I should
know because he ended up in bed with us, which doesn't happen very
often. I was tired of being smashed in between two people so I woke David
up to take him back to bed.

Nathan and Shelby relishing time spent with their Dad. They love stories
at bedtime and "I Spy" is always one of their favorites. What an awesome
way to end an evening~

Reply to Jamie Broeker's Woes about Kyle Growing Up!

Jamie this is for you more than anyone...actually it is for everyone else too because
these pictures are so adorable and some of my favorites! I feel the same sentiments
that you do and that is that our children are growing up way too fast.

When I think about next year ~and Nathan at the Holy Name, 4 year pre-school, I think of all the newness he'll have to experience. That includes missing one of his best buds, Kyle!

We'll definately have to blog one another and promise that we'll get the two of them together
whenever possible.

I'm going to have to end because my electricity is about to cut out on me because of the winds.

See ya!

Nathan laying in his cuddly blanket looking ohhhhh so cute!

Nathan enjoying Papa's hugs and kisses!

New Hairstyle: Tammy

Hey everyone! I can't get my printer to upload any pictures today of the children...UGH! So
I'm going to send you a photo of a new hairstyle I'm interested in getting.
What do you think? I don't know if I have the face for it but I'm going to take it into my
hair dresser tomorrow and see what she thinks. I believe I have some growing out to do first.
My hair is somewhat shorter.

Shelby's Surprise and Future Western Football Player

Shelby had a special something happen to her today. A girl from school, Sarah Hodge, gave her a valentine gift. Inside this beautiful, sparkly purse were 3 lipglosses. If you know anything about Shelby it's that she LOVES LIPGLOSS. What a sweet friend! I believe it made Shelby's day.

Nathan's been patiently waiting for a football jersey to put over the shoulder
pads, he got from Santa Claus, for Christmas. So...Papa came up with this
football jersey from his alma mater, Western Kentucky University. He was
pretty excited about it and showed off for Granny and me. Go Hilltoppers!

After Nathan worked on signing his name on a few Valentines he jumped right into
playing with his firemen. He wanted me to take a picture of him with his firemen
doing their push-ups. I was informed that the "girl" firemen is doing girl push-ups
and the "men" are doing men push-ups. Can you guess which is which? Yes, the
girl is in the middle. What an imagination!

Shelby has been working hard today on an assignment for school. She had a good time sifting
through several magazines looking for items that fit the different seasons of the year. We'reproud of her work! She also spent time before mass this morning writing Valentine cards to some of her favorite people. Hope you all were on her list.

Breaking News about Shelby: BRACES

Shelby is officially a teenager defined by the rite of passage in getting her braces.
She recently loves showing them off, as you can see. After only having them on
for a couple of weeks I can see improvement...really! She's been great about
keeping them brushed and cleaning them when necessary.

Nathan's Playdate with Best Bud Kyle

Nathan had his best bud Kyle over today after pre-school.
Granny picked them up and treated them to smoothies.
They rushed into the house and set off to play football,
in their astronaut and batman outfits. They were hilarious!
The only time they stopped moving was to take a few photos.

Shelby and Nathan Enjoying the Snow!

The kids had so much fun during our winter storm. It was actually pretty chilly (20 degrees or so). They played one afternoon at Papa and Granny's house then went sledding at our house the following day.

It's always FUN to coming in to a nice HOT cup of good ol' hot chocolate, especially with marshmellows!

New blogspot website

Hello Family and Friends!

I'm trying to set up our family blogspot today.
We'll see how it goes. Jamie Broeker says it's
simple so I'm giving it a whirl!

I'm going to try and post some pictures of the children
playing in the snow we got recently. I'm sure you've
heard by now that we got one of the worst ice storms in history.
Our household was out of power for 3 full days. I've
never been through anything quite like this before.
We're spoiled to electricity, internet, tv,phones, cell phones,
water etc.....

I'm going to play around some now but I'll be back!
